Military Officer QUestions in general?

Question by jsu266: Military Officer QUestions in general?
I have B.S. in Social Science/Education. I have been wondering about becoming an officer in a Reserve or Guard branch. From what little I have read the Navy Reserve is the only branch that allows you to become an officer without an intial couple years of active duty. Is this correct? What about the Coast Guard Reserve? Also just courious what is the deployment rate for the NR? I looked at some stats that said the army reserve has been less deployed to Iraq than the national guard. Is that right?
I cant believe that you but that garbage about the cruise missle. I dont even have to watch that stupid video I have seen it. All I have to know is this. If our government wanted to have an elaborate conspiracy to have a reason to go to war they would not have blown up the twin towers and the pentagon. Come on. Dont you think one tower would have been enough? Or just some good old fashioned propaganda. The U.S. military attacking the HQ of the U.S. military. That makes a lot of sense. It reminds me of how many ignorant people there are in our country.

You can become an officer in any branch of the military without being enlisted first. The only requirement is a bachelor’s degree and to meet other physical and moral requirements. Plus score high enough on officer qualification tests.

all Reserve and Guard components have Officer opportunities without having been enlisted first..either through DIRCOM or OCS/OTS.

they may not be going to Iraq.. but we have LOTS of bodies in Afghanistan. in fact about 3000 who were originally scheduled to go to Iraq were diverted to Afghanistan recently.

It is possible in the Army National Guard. You’ll go to Basic Training, Officer Candidate School (aka Basic Officer Leader Course I), BOLC II, and the BOLC III for your branch (formerly Officer Basic Course or OBC; branch = Infantry, Armor, Signal, etc.). This will take 1 – 1 1/2 years depending on your branch. A recruiter can give you more specific information.

In response to the above post, I’m sure you DO have enough intelligence to graduate from college – especially since you did, in fact, graduate. I guess the poster DOES NOT have enough intelligence to remember all the words for his sentences (like “don’t”).

As far as 9/11, you don’t have to believe the government, you can believe Popular Mechanics: http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/military_law/1227842.html

Or, you can be an idiot and believe You Tube.

Thank you for your interest in serving in the military. It is impossible to compare the deployment rates between the Guards and Reserves, because it depends partly upon your job. The Marines, Coast Guard, Navy, and Army allows Officers in the Reserves/Guard to serve without an active duty commitment. How one goes about getting a commission depends entirely upon the service.

That is to say they dont require Active duty outside of a initial training period.
