Vintage Navy Boot Camp Postcard

Image by Tobyotter
From my collection. I like this on because this was the boot camp I went to in 1975, But what I like about this one is the info on the back, It has a special "For Defense" postage stamp with s cancellation that says "Buy War Savings Bonds and Stamps". The
postmark is Chicago, March 12, 1943.
Addressed to "Miss Virginia Slight, Hartsville, PA"
The message: "Hello Ginny, Well here I am in North Chicago. Boy! is it a big city. I saw my darling and he is coming along fine but won’t be out of the hospital for a long time. Write to me. I am so lonesome. Love Mabel {3319 Cullom Ave, Chicago, ILL, C/o Goldberger}

Looking at Google maps… I suspect 3319 Cullom Ave is still the same building today as it was in 1943.
I just looked at it on Google maps, maybe i will mail them a copy of the postcard
oh that would be very nice toby!
A fantastic momento. When our group went to Great Lakes in the fall of 1972, we ended up in Camp Barry, but we only stayed a week; long enough to get uniforms, haircuts and shots. The new barracks (at Camp Dewey) were across a major highway where we entered by way of a tunnel. By that time Barry was being phased out, as was Camp Moffett.
